The Dominican-American University celebrates its 19th Ordinary Graduation Ceremony

The event was led by Engineer Ramón Sosa, Rector of the Dominican-American University, who delivered the welcoming remarks and stated: “Acknowledge and embrace that if the path feels difficult, it’s likely because you are heading in the right direction, as there is no greater talent than having the courage to strive for goals that seem impossible. Obstacles will arise, doors will close, but it is in those moments that the successful individual adapts, persists, gets back up, and starts again.”

Engineer Ramón Sosa was accompanied at the head table by Mr. Darío Lama, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICDA, and Dr. Laura Reyes, Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs at UNICDA. Also present were the coordinators of the academic areas for Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies: Lic. Alejandra Brunet, Engineer Carlos Núñez, Lic. Ligia Henríquez, Dr. Alexandra García, and Lic. Francisco Felipe.

The keynote speech of the graduation ceremony was delivered by Engineer José Armando Tavárez, President of the Dominican Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies (Cámara TIC), former President of the Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU), and former Rector of the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA).

During this ceremony, degrees were awarded to professionals from the first cohort of Software Engineers and the first group of graduates in the Bachelor’s Degree in English Teaching, who enrolled under the conditions of regulation 09-15 for training teachers of excellence.

Additionally, the university presented the country with new professionals in other fields and programs, who received degrees in Business Administration, Tourism and Hotel Business Administration, Systems Engineering, Higher Technical Education with an Initial Education Mention, Bachelor’s in Education with an English Mention, Specialty in Education with an English Mention, Specialty in Administration of Information Systems, Master’s in Business Administration, and Master’s in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

The words of gratitude from the graduates of the 2022 class were delivered by Patricia Terrero Montesino, an honor student from the Bachelor’s in English Teaching program.

The institution’s Mixed Choir performed the national anthems of the Dominican Republic and the United States during the opening and concluded the ceremony with a repertoire of songs in both English and Spanish.

The Dominican-American University continues to reinforce its mission of providing and promoting education in English and Spanish across various disciplines to effectively meet the country’s educational demands, shaping competent professionals in their respective fields.
