Visit from MESCYT to follow up on the Improvement Plan of the 2019-2024 Five-Year Evaluation of UNICDA

The Universidad Domínico Americano (UNICDA) received a visit from delegates of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (MESCyT) as part of the first cycle of follow-up visits for the Improvement Plan of the Five-Year Evaluation. This program aims to verify the compliance of higher education institutions (IES) with established quality standards.
The meeting included participation from MESCyT representatives, including Mr. Juan Francisco Viloria Santos, Deputy Minister of Evaluation and Accreditation of IES; Mrs. Lourdes Concepción, head of the Five-Year Evaluation department; and Mr. Juan de la Cruz, technical head of evaluation and accreditation. They were welcomed by the Institutional Self-Evaluation Committee, led by our rector, Engineer Ramón Sosa. Deputy Minister Viloria emphasized the importance of these visits to obtain a real picture of the quality level of each institution in the eight dimensions being evaluated.
The Five-Year Evaluation is a process carried out every five years to examine the institutional conditions of IES, ensuring their compliance with established quality criteria. This follow-up is essential to identify improvement opportunities in the university’s internal management. This process reaffirms the institution’s commitment to continuous improvement and the training of highly skilled professionals.

They inaugurate the art exhibition ‘Diaspora’ at the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano

On October 10, the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano (ICDA) opened its exhibition hall for “Diáspora,” an art exhibit featuring 14 Latin American visual artists. The show aims to create an artistic dialogue with the public, exploring themes related to cultural encounters, the challenges of emigration, and the guiding lights for those seeking new opportunities in host cities.
Artists such as Rebeca Flores, Monique Johnson, Humberto Grullón, Ramón Santiago, Luis Cepeda, Raphael Díaz, Vladimir Sosa, Nilton Cárdenas, Rafael Trinidad, Pablo Mijares, Julia Castillo, Amalia González, Salvador Sánchez, and Ángel Cajigas Arbelo joined forces to reflect deeply on diversity, identity, and the continuous search for meaning in a migration context.
The ICDA thanks the Centro Cultural Perelló for its collaboration in this new edition of the exhibition, as well as all the attendees who participated in the inauguration. “Diáspora” will be open to the public until November 15, 2024, in the exhibition hall of the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano.

Inauguration of the Exhibition ‘History that Unites Us: Let the Liberty Bell Ring’ at the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano

At an emotional event, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic, Patricia Aguilera, formally introduced a group of talented artists and their impactful works as part of the cultural project ‘Histories that Unite Us: Let the Liberty Bell Ring.’
The event, held in an atmosphere of celebration and reflection, brought together various artists and notable personalities. During the presentation, it was explored how art becomes a powerful medium to promote unity, freedom, and democratic values essential for the development and strengthening of society.
This exhibition not only invites aesthetic appreciation but also introspection and dialogue about the values that connect us as human beings. The public still has time to enjoy these extraordinary works being exhibited at the Plaza del Estudiante, located at the main headquarters of the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano on Abraham Lincoln Avenue.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to enjoy art and freedom!
