UNICDA Celebrates its 21st Regular Graduation

The Universidad Domínico Americano (UNICDA) held its 21st Regular Graduation with great excitement, a significant event marking the end of a fundamental stage in the lives of its graduates and the beginning of a promising path towards the future. The ceremony took place at the Patrick N. Hughson Auditorium of the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano, where graduates, families, teachers, and administrative staff gathered to commemorate this important academic achievement.

Ing. Ramón Sosa, Rector of UNICDA, led the 21st Regular Graduation, highlighting the importance of continuous learning as the beginning of new opportunities. He celebrated the end of a stage for the graduates, acknowledging the vital support of families and teachers. Sosa encouraged the graduates to be agents of change, to turn challenges into opportunities, and to set ambitious goals using modern tools like artificial intelligence, with a critical approach. He concluded by emphasizing that progress must go hand in hand with moral values and a commitment to society, promoting a holistic view of professional success.

The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Francisco Ramírez, Executive Director of the Instituto Nacional de Formación y Capacitación del Magisterio (Inafocam). Ramírez extended his sincere congratulations to the graduates, reminding them that despite the challenges they have faced, they are fortunate to be at this point in their lives. He shared his own experience from 35 years ago, highlighting that although the journey has been difficult, perseverance and a spirit of change are essential for success. He thanked the university authorities and faculty for their crucial role in the development of the graduates, providing them with the necessary tools to achieve success. During his speech, he shared five key lessons for the future: do not fear failure, continue studying, seek excellence instead of success, believe in oneself, and value human connections. He concluded by motivating the graduates to maintain their authenticity and to step into the world with confidence and determination, reminding them that the future belongs to them.

Aire Metzli Lorenzo, a student of the Bachelor’s Degree in English with a focus on Teaching and the highest academic honor student, spoke on behalf of the class of 2024, offering a motivational message about perseverance and the importance of effort and dedication. She reflected on the profound meaning of graduation, seeing it not only as the attainment of a degree but as a threshold to new possibilities and challenges. She emphasized the importance of basing our words on verifiable data, stressing that truth is founded on facts.

The diploma award ceremony was a highlight of the event, honoring the effort and dedication of the graduates, as well as recognizing with special distinctions those who achieved outstanding academic performance. These distinctions were presented by Mrs. Mari Carmen Orizondo, representing the Board of Directors of the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano. Also present were other members of the ICDA Board of Directors: Ing. Edwin Salazar, Director of Registry and liaison with the Rector’s Office for academic affairs; Lic.
