UNICDA holds a discussion on technology and fundamental rights with distinguished guests
With the aim of reflecting on the challenges of the digital age and their relationship with fundamental rights, the Universidad Domínico Americano (UNICDA) hosted an enriching discussion in the institution’s Exhibition Hall.
The event was inaugurated with welcoming remarks by Dr. Josefina Pepín Ubrí, Academic Vice-Rector of UNICDA, who expressed her enthusiasm for hosting distinguished panelists and an audience committed to education and social change.
On this occasion, the event featured the participation of the Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa, and data science expert, Darián Vargas, who addressed the topic: “Impact of Technological and Communication Tools on the Assurance of Fundamental Rights.” Both speakers provided valuable perspectives on how technology can be used ethically and strategically to strengthen human rights in diverse contexts.
The event was part of the University Defender Initiative, a project that promotes human rights education and ethical leadership within academia. Through innovative activities such as video game competitions, research, and volunteer programs, this initiative seeks to foster conscious digital citizenship.
Additionally, the program “Defensor Tec” was highlighted, a proposal that responds to contemporary challenges by promoting the responsible use of technologies as a means to protect and fully exercise fundamental rights.
The University thanked all attendees for their active participation and for contributing to a space of constructive dialogue on key issues for the development of a fairer and more informed society.
