The hymn celebrates the bicultural identity and the spirit of excellence, representing a significant milestone in the history of UNICDA and its academic community.

Santo Domingo, September 2023 – The Universidad Domínico Americano (UNICDA) launched its hymn, a musical composition that reflects the essence and commitment to excellence of this prestigious educational institution.

UNICDA’s hymn is an artistic expression that celebrates the bicultural identity, values, mission and vision of the university, as well as its dedication to the integral formation of students committed to knowledge, culture and service to society.

To select the lyrics, an internal contest was held with the participation of teachers, students and administrative personnel of this university and was evaluated by a jury composed of Lucy Threan de Lamarche and Leonardo Santoni, members of the Board of Directors; Eng. Ramón Sosa, Rector; Dr. Laura Reyes, Academic Vice Rector; Mrs. Sofía Otero, Cultural Director; Mrs. Karina Taveras, in charge of Social Outreach; Mr. Viterbo Peña, Director of the ICDA Mixed Choir and Mr. Manuel Tejada, outstanding composer and musical arranger of our country.

The winning lyrics were written by Professor Carlos Edgar Banks, who was able to capture the values of the institution through them: Commitment, equity, service, identity, innovation and quality are the values highlighted in the composition entitled “UNICDA Eterna”.

Also recognized were Sergio Radhamés Acevedo Ariza, first runner-up, Koral Melissa Núñez Javier, second runner-up and Esbelta Emperatriz Leonardo Luis.

The composition and musical arrangements of the anthem were made by Maestro Manuel Tejada.

The official presentation of UNICDA’s hymn took place in a special ceremony led by Mr. Darío Lama, President of the Board of Directors of ICDA and Mr. Ramón Sosa, Rector, with the special participation of the Minister of Youth, Mr. Rafael Féliz García, who addressed some motivating words to the audience.

During the ceremony, the institution’s Mixed Choir was in charge of the interpretation of the hymn, allowing all present to experience the emotional melody and the powerful lyrics that symbolize UNICDA’s identity.

The first dancer of the National Company of Dominican Contemporary Dance, Erick Roque, and the folkloric ballet of Estudio Teatro also had a special participation. These performances were coordinated by the Theatrical Pedagogue Wendy Queliz.

This hymn is a testimony of the pride and sense of belonging that UNICDA has towards its community and its educational legacy and will become an important element of university celebrations and events, reinforcing the spirit of unity and excellence that characterizes UNICDA.
