As part of the final practical projects for the Event Management course, taught by professor Wendy Queliz, students majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Management continue to put into practice the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired during their academic training through the planning and organization of deeply meaningful celebrations.
This experience allowed them to transfer classroom learning to real-world scenarios, accompanying individuals preparing to experience very special moments and turning their stories and celebrations into opportunities to test their creativity, organizational skills, and attention to every detail.
Among the events developed were a marriage proposal, a baby shower, and a 15th birthday (quinceañera) celebration—events that presented these future professionals with the challenge of conceptualizing, planning, decorating, and executing each proposal, taking care of every element to make these moments truly memorable for both the hosts and their guests.
Through these practical projects, students strengthened key competencies for their future professional performance in the tourism and hospitality sector, facing situations that required planning, creativity, coordination, teamwork, and attention to the specific needs of each event.
The experience also demonstrated that event planning goes beyond coordinating a celebration, as it involves understanding people’s expectations and transforming important moments in their lives into meaningful and memorable experiences.
