The Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano (ICDA) welcomed the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Isiah Parnell, to learn about the history, structure, academic offerings and future plans of the various units that make up the ICDA.
Mr. Parnell was received by the President of the Board of Directors of ICDA, Dario Lama, and Engineer Ramon Sosa, Executive Director of ICDA. They were also accompanied by members of the Board of Directors: Lucy Threan de Lamarche, Darys Estrella, Leonardo Santoni, Robert Valdez, Enrique Fernández Malla, Hilda Patricia Polanco and Arthur Valdez.
Mr. Parnell was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Tamice Gordon Parnell; Mr. Alex Titolo, Minister Counselor of the U.S. Embassy; Joshabel de la Cruz, Lidia Valdez and Alexander Lopez from the Embassy’s Office of Public Affairs.
During the visit Mr. Parnell had the opportunity to share with students from the Language School, the group of SIT Tesol certified trainers, as well as some of the institution’s leadership team. The tour included a visit to these areas of the main campus: the Lincoln Library, the Student Plaza, the Student Advising Office – EducationUSA, the American English Lounge, the Makerspace, the Podcast Studio, the new Domínico Americano Sports Complex, among others.
The ICDA and its Board of Directors were honored to have received Mr. Parnell, his wife and the entire team of the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, and continue to be, for over 76 years, the cultural and educational link that strengthens the bonds of friendship between the United States and the Dominican Republic.
